The $75,000 broker bond did not change on January 16, 2024.
If you haul for a broker, that number is the security behind your pay. It is still a BMC-84 surety bond or a BMC-85 trust. The bond was already the rule. January 16 did not invent it, and it did not raise it.
What you should ask before you roll
Ask for the bond company and the bond number. Write them down with the rate confirmation. A rate confirmation, a clean POD, and a bill that matches the load are how you get paid on a normal week. The bond is what you have when that process breaks.
Some later pieces of the rule were given later dates, including how fast a broker can be suspended. Do not guess those dates off a load board comment. If the broker will not give you the bond number, do not take the load.
